Finding Your Target Heart Rate
Have you ever felt your heart beating inside your chest? If you have, it's a good sign, it means you are working hard. Your heart is a large muscle that works to keep oxygen rich blood flowing to all parts of your body. To get the most benefits out of a workout your heart needs to be pumping a certain number of times per minute. This number is different for each person depending on their age. For this activity you will need a clock (with a second hand or a stop watch), writing utensil, and the Target Heart Rate worksheet (attached). Once you have your materials gathered click here to enter the National Emergency Medicine Association's web site.
